What does this mean?

Cultural perspective is extremely important when it comes to teaching. It is frivolous to think that as an educator you will not ever need to teach with culturally diverse students. This includes children from different races, ethnicities, socio-economic statuses, and even geographical locations. Each student in your class is different; and that doesn’t make any one of them better than the next. Each student is important and deserves the respect and help they require in order to learn as much as they can from you as an educator.

Why is it needed?

Each student is different; and it is from their differences—including cultural differences, that you can recognize what exactly it is an individual student may need in order to be successful. Recognizing cultures in a classroom is one of the best things you can do as a teacher because it not only helps the student succeed, grow, and feel comfortable, but you get to learn about them as an individual
