The Javelin Throw:

While I competed in the hammer throw, the weight throw, and the discus throw, I specialize in the javelin throw.

The javelin throw is a very old event, dating back to the Ancient Olympic Games. While originally the javelin was used as a ranged weapon throughout history, it is now used in modern sport and is part of the outdoor track and field throwing events. The event calls for an individual to hold a spear weighing 600 grams to approach a toe board with a run up approach. Shifting their weight at the last minute and focusing on proper form through blocking and releasing the javelin, the athlete attempts to throw the spear as far as they can in order to be measured.

I picked up javelin in early 2009 and have continued my career as a javelin thrower for almost a decade now. I have been fortunate to find such great success in the sport. It has allowed me to attend college as well as brought me all around the country to compete.
