WebQuest:

 

Virginia SOL: Identify, locate, evaluate, and use appropriate instructional technology-based resources (hardware and software) to support Virginia's Standards of Learning and other instructional objectives.

 

Objective:  The student will be able to describe key characteristics about certain drugs and alcohol and what their effect on the human body is.

 

Sequence: I will begin the class period by introducing the topic of drugs and alcohol. I will explain that it goes along with what we have been studying in class and how it is relevant to the human body. I will then explain to the class that we will be going to the computer lab, in order to complete a web quest assignment about Drugs and Alcohol. Each student will work individually to complete the assignment. The URL to the assignment will be written on the board in order for them to begin researching. They will have 45 minutes to complete the assignment by filling in the chart below.

 

The students will be researching the following about Drugs and Alcohol:

 

Is it legal/illegal?

Does it have medicinal use?

How many people have tried/use it?

Does it impair brain function?

Does it stunt growth?
Does it cause cancer?

What are some notable symptoms?

List some short term effects.

List some long term effects.

What are some other health risks associated with the drug?
