Example from my student teaching:

While student teaching in South Carolina I used the Common Core Standards as a basis of instruction for the first time. Though the content is similar to the Virginia SOL standards, the wording and scope of the Common Core Standards make them very different to read and use. By creating effective lesson plans based on these new standards, I demonstrated my ability to access, analyze, and synthesize information from disparate sources, while also keeping in mind the abilities and limitations of individual students within my class. Below I have listed one second grade "Foundational Skills" standard from both the Common Core and the Virginia SOL's in order to highlight their differences, and concretely model the comparisons I made between my background knowledge of the SOL's, and the Common Core, so I could be effective in the classroom.
