Example from my student teaching: 

 

The lesson included in the link below demonstrates my lesson design abilities along the key elements of effective teaching. As my supervising teacher preferred her class to run using "mini-lessons," I created this plan for use during the entire two hour reading block to show continuity in my teaching and my ability to teach mini lessons which flowed easily from one content focus to the next. 

 

Both the math and the reading classes were leveled for ability, so the process of differentiation was more limited than usual. I did include differentiation in my leveling of center groups by Fontas and Pinnell reading levels. However, my teacher wanted all students to go through the same process with the same end product so they could prepare for upcoming MAP testing.
