To demonstrate my understanding of constructivism, and ability to implement its theories in my classroom, I wrote the following essay for my Diagnostic Reading class. In the essay, I discuss principles of constructivism, such as students constructing knowledge for themselves, and relate these principles to work I did in my school placement throughout the semester. Writing papers such as this was helpful to my development as a constructivist teacher because they prompted me to self-evaluate-an important piece of effective teaching.
